A little bit of history ...
The Flemish Room, as its name suggests, was decorated in a Flemish style by the painter and sculptor Victor De Haen in 1916. It is to him that we owe the splendid wall frescoes, the fireplace and the sculptures that still are in the room today. The style is completed by antique period furniture. A magnificent wooden floor covers the floor and completely restored crystal chandeliers illuminate the place wonderfully.
Arthur Mouchart, founder of Maison Mouchart in 1897, bought the apartment building in the early 1930s with his wife Josephine Van Dijk. They will occupy the place until death of Josephine. During this perdiod, the Flemish Room was used as dining room for the Mouchart family. The Flemish Room remains in the family ever since.
At the end of the 60s; it was transformed into a banquet hall. Used during
several years by the restaurant les Foudres, it was recently restord to make it a friendly and warm muliturpuse space.
The Flamande Room forms a nice trio with the event room "Chez Eugène" and the restaurant "Les Caves d'Alex” which are right next door.
